Elin Manahan Thomas - All Things Bright And Beautiful
BBC Songs of Praise Wales special 21 September 2008. Elin is accompanied by Serendipity and Only Men Aloud! Viewed from points west of the Severn Bridge, Elin Manahan Thomas is known to classical music fans as a Bach soprano. In her Welsh homeland, she's simply Soprano bach. The title's mix of English and Welsh says a great deal with just two words. It pays affectionate tribute to the 'little soprano' while recognising her passion for one of the towering giants of western classical...

Lesley's most recent albums are 'Travelling Light', 'The Singer', and 'So Deep is the Night' and she also a featured artist on the platinum selling 'Perfect Day' single released by the BBC in aid of Children in Need. Paul Robert Potts (born 13 October 1970, Bristol, England) is a British tenor who in 2007 became the winner of the first series of ITV’s Britain's Got Talent , singing...
Adagio for Strings, op.11
This was played shortly after 9/11, broadcast on BBC America. "Adagio for Strings" is a work for string orchestra, arranged by the American composer Samuel Barber from his first string quartet. It is by far Barber's most popular piece. Barber's "Adagio for Strings" originated as the second movement in his String Quartet No. 1, Op. 11, composed in 1936. In the original it follows a violently contrasting first movement, and is succeeded by a brief reprise of this music.
Nigel Kennedy - Elgar Violin Concerto Part 1 BBC Proms 2008
Maverick violinist Nigel Kennedy returns to the Proms - after an absence of 21 years - for Elgar's Violin Concerto, the work that first put him on the musical map following his now-classic recording. Paul Daniel conducts this programme of British music. The Garden of Fand by Bax mines deep seams of late-Romanticism. For nearly twenty years, Kennedy has been acknowledged as one of the world’s leading violin virtuosos whose unique talent has brought fresh perspectives and a quantum energy to both...
