In 2009 Kathy Jones, your Conference Webster, is joined by a superb Spiral of Spinners: fantastic Roz Bound on Registration, glorious Queen Bee Koko Newport with the Melissas, dynamic Jennifer Cooper with Craftspeople, Artists and Stallholders in the Small Town Hall, compassionate Georgina Sirett-Hardie organizing Coventina’s Day Spa where conferees can be pampered by healers, masseuses, reflexologists, etc., sparkling Annabel Du Boulay, Rosie Elflain and team looking after Young People, as well as fabulous dedicated Priestesses Jacqui Woodward-Smith, Katinka Soetens, Ren Chapman, Rose Flint, Sally Pullinger, Sophie Pullinger and Tegwyn Hyndman who design and facilitate Conference Ceremonies.

On arrival Conference participants choose to belong to one of Nine Hearths for ceremonial participation and mutual support throughout the Conference. Each Hearth belongs to one of the nine directional British Goddesses who each carry a differently coloured Flame. Artha holds the Green Flame, Rhiannon the Red Flame, Domnu the Blue, Ker the Gold, Banbha the Orange, Keridwen the Black, Danu the Silver, Brighde the White, and the Lady of Avalon holds the Violet Flame.

Bright spring green, fire colours and gold are the main Conference colours. You may like to dress in these colours as you participate in ceremonies, workshops and walk the land. Please bring your voices, drums, rattles and other instruments to join in making music at various times during the Conference and on Sunday’s Goddess Procession.

Record crowd for Solstice sunrise

A record crowd of about 36,500 revellers has welcomed the dawn of the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge.

Druid ceremonies took place alongside music and Morris dancing, however overcast skies obscured the sun.

The event to mark the dawn of the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere has grown in popularity since a four-mile exclusion zone around the site was lifted nine years ago.

English Heritage, which manages the ancient monument, said the car park was full with 6,500 cars two hours before sunrise.

Peter Carson, head of Stonehenge, said: "We were expecting it to be busy this year, but we had ensured that it has been a peaceful and enjoyable solstice.

"There has been a great atmosphere and where else would you want to be on midsummer's day?"

Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice occurred on Sunday morning (21st Dec 08), druids, pagans and tourists alike flocked to Stonehenge in Wiltshire to celebrate. 

For some people it is a religious festival, for others it is pagan tradition of celebrating the shortest day of the year.

Nearly 2,000 people, some dressed in cloaks and robes, saw the sunrise at the prehistoric site.

A £20m visitor centre is to be built at the site but Heritage minister Barbara Follett has postponed an announcement about the location of the centre until January.

English Heritage and The National Trust are in disagreement over where the centre should be built.

The Summer Solstice is equally popular attracting more than 20,000 people.

Booth Vertical Reflex Therapy Basic Course

It will cover the background to the discovery and development of Vertical Reflex Therapy and Synergistic Reflexology. Its role as a new technique for treating orthopaedic and other conditions while feet are weight bearing will be examined and demonstrated as well as its benefits in enhancing conventional reflexology treatments.

A 20 minute Complete VRT/Reflexology treatment will be taught and experienced.

South Bristol Buddhist Drop-in Meditation Classes

A NEW DROP-IN CLASS VENUE AND EVENING FOR 2009

From Thursday 8th January 2009 we will be running our classes during school term times on THURSDAY evenings from 7pm to 9.30pm at the OFF-CENTRE GALLERY, 13 Cotswold Rd, Windmill Hill, Bedminster. 

The Gallery is about 500m from Bedminster Station, along Cotwold Rd.

Class charges will continue to be £5 or £3 for those on a low wage.  We will continue to follow our usual programme of walking meditation, bodywork, meditation and workshops using the two upstairs Off-Centre Galleries.  Please note: you will need to be able to climb steep stairs to come to our classes.

The Off-Centre Gallery is a warm and welcoming space and classes will continue to be open to those who want to drop-in and who already know how to meditate or sit quietly. 

However, there is only room for 15 people each week in our new space so we may sometimes need to put a CLASS FULL notice on the door.  You are asked to arrive as near as possible to 7pm to make sure you have a space. 

Spiritual Development Workshops - Beginner to Intermediate:

Angel Creations is planning to run one day workshops on spirtual development in Stanton from March 2009. The days will run approximately from 10.30am to 3.30pm on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The workshops will be suitable for beginners who have an interest in spiritual and psychic development or those that have already begun their journey and would like the opportunity to develop their abilities and interest further and spend a day among like minded people in the area. Workshops will cover a variety of aspects including:

• Meditation & Visualisation
• Healing
• Auras, Chakras and Colour
• Connection & Working with Angels
• Connection & Working with Spirit Guides
• Psychic development including psychometry, card reading and other tools
• Mediumship
