New Designs for Handball Arena

Designs were unveiled today for a 'simple, efficient and flexible' London 2012 Handball Arena that will become a new multi-sports facility in legacy. The new designs were included in the planning application for the venue which was submitted today. The Handball Arena will be in the west of the Olympic Park, to the south of the Hockey Centre, within four minutes of the Olympic Village. Local residents get say on London 2012 VeloPark and Handball venues for Games and legacy

People living around the Olympic Park and a range of sports groups will be able to find out more and give their feedback on the plans for the London 2012 VeloPark and Handball Arena both for the Games and legacy. The Olympic Delivery Authority has organised a series of community consultation events, drop-in sessions and information displays on both venues for Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Residents throughout August. IOC approves changes to Park venues

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved four design changes to the Olympic Park to enhance usage after 2012. Fencing, which was to be held in a temporary venue on the Olympic Park, will move into ExCeL London – already a Games venue. The temporary venue for Basketball will now move from the southern end of the park to the northern end of the park. The BMX venue will move a small distance and now be adjacent to the Velodrome.
